The ride
Roll out of Treis-Karden and follow the Mosel before climbing to Löwenburg castle, then on past Philippsburg castle. Next you dive into the Jünkernwald forest and skirt the Brauselay nature reserve, with the Flaumbach river joining along the way. Of the 74.8 km, almost all is paved, and 1537 m of climbing keeps the legs honest. Then it's back to where you started.
