The ride

Roll out of Mascalucia and the road soon brings you to the Oasi di Ponte Barca nature reserve, then along the Simeto river. From there the route climbs into the Parco dell'Etna nature reserve before looping back to where you started. Along the way you take on 1513 m of elevation gain, and the 75.3 km run is almost entirely on paved surface. A lively day that keeps unfolding from reserve to river to reserve.
