The ride

From Valle Castellana you roll out to Lago di Talvacchia, a lake, then climb on past Fortezza Pia, a fort, before the road follows the Tronto and then the Vibrata, both rivers. Along the way Castello Bonifaci, a castle, marks the route, and the loop brings you back to where you started. All 79.7 km are paved, with 1878 m of climbing to keep the legs honest.
