The ride
Roll out of Saint-Hostien and the castles start early: Château de Champ, then Château de Gendriac and Château de Volhac, each one a marker on the way. Between them the route follows La Loire and La Gagne, with Le Dolaizon and La Borne further along. It's 70.7 km, all paved, with 1327 m of climbing, and the last castle, Château d'Adiac, comes before the road turns back to the start.
