Roll out of Gettorf and the route soon meets the Nord-Ostsee-Kanal, then swings by Wittensee for a stretch along the water. On you go over the Schirnau and through Groß Wittenseer Moor, with its nature reserve quiet on either side. A windmill, Mühle Rosa, marks the way before the road turns for home. Of the 51.5 km, roughly two-thirds is paved and the rest unpaved.
