The ride

Roll out of Saint-Amans-Valtoret and the climbing begins, with the castle of the same name setting the tone early. The route then dips into the Parc naturel régional du Haut-Languedoc before following the Thoré and the Arn rivers along their courses. Three castles mark the way — Kerlo and Sauveterre among them — and 72.1 km later you're back where you started, with 1451 m of climbing in your legs.
