From Alfter you roll out past the Kiesgrube northwest of Lüftelberg, a nature reserve, before two castles, Burg Ringsheim and Burg Niederberg, follow in quick succession. Then it's on through Friesheimer Busch and the Erftaue orchards near Weilerswist, both nature reserves, and into the Villewälder. Two more castles, Rheindorfer Burg and Wolfsburg, round off the loop before you return to Alfter. Just 79.0 km, nearly all paved, with 391 m of climbing along the way.
