The ride

From Buonconvento you roll out and soon meet the Fiume Ombrone, then the Riserva Naturale Basso Merse, a nature reserve that sets the tone for the day. Past the Villa di Curiano, a manor on the way, the route keeps turning through 71.6 km of countryside. Most of it runs unpaved, with 1127 m of climbing spread across the loop. Then it's back to Buonconvento to close the ride.
