Roll out of Sailly-en-Ostrevent and the route soon meets the water, passing the canal lock at Fampoux and then the one at Athies. From there it follows La Scarpe Canalisée, with 57.7 km of riding that mixes paved and unpaved surface and gathers 261 m of climbing along the way. The canals keep you company before the road turns back toward where you started.
