The ride
Roll out of Simmern and past the Neues Schloss before the Simmerbach leads you into the Naturpark Soonwald-Nahe. Climb on to the Burgruine Niederburg, then follow the Rhein toward the Schönburg. A stretch through the Struth nature reserve brings you to Burg Gollenfels, and from there it's back to Simmern after 74.3 km, all of it paved.
