Data We Collect
RouteCaster stores your email address, display name, and the GPS routes you create. When you connect a device (e.g. Hammerhead, Wahoo), we also store your completed ride activity data pulled from that platform — ride name, date, distance, moving time, average speed, and elevation gain — plus which of your saved routes (if any) it matches. We use this data solely to provide the route planning and device sync services you requested.
How We Use Your Data
Your routes and account information are stored on our servers and are only shared with third-party services (Strava, Hammerhead, Garmin, Wahoo) when you explicitly choose to sync a route to those platforms. If you connect and sync a device, we compare your ride's GPS track against public RouteCaster routes to detect when you've ridden one — including routes made by other users. When a match is found, we may show anonymized aggregate stats (e.g. how many riders have completed a route, and average real-world speed) on that route's page; your own rides are never identified individually to other users through this aggregate. You can exclude any connected device from this cross-rider matching at any time in Settings → Devices. Separately, by default your display name and average speed also appear, by name, in a "Top riders" leaderboard shown to other users on any route you've ridden — you can turn this off (your rides still count anonymously toward the aggregate stats above) in Settings → Profile. Separately again, when you connect a device, your completed rides (display name, route name, and distance) also appear by default in the "Broadcast" activity feed on the Home page so other users can see what's being ridden across RouteCaster — you can turn this off per device at any time in Settings → Devices.
Your Rights
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. Under GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, and erase your personal data.
