The ride

Roll out of Montpezat-sous-Bauzon and follow the La Fontaulière, then the L'Ardèche, out of the village. The road climbs past the castle of Hautségur before dropping to the Le Lignon and the castle of Castrevieille. A loop through the Monts d'Ardèche nature reserve brings you back to where you started, 72.6 km later. Every metre of it is paved.
