Roll out of Smilde and follow the Noord-Willemskanaal, then climb gently to the Kymmelsberg viewpoint. The route slips through the Strubben-Kniphorstbosch nature reserve and along the Amerdiep river before crossing the Hijkerveld heath. It's 81.0 km, all paved, with just 73 m of climbing, and it brings you back to Smilde.
