Roll out of Nieuweroord and follow the canal, the Verlengde Hoogeveensche Vaart, before the windmill De Pionier appears. Onward past the Huis te Echten castle and along the Linthorst Homankanaal, with the Molen van Makkum windmill next in line. The Mantingerbos nature reserve rounds things off before the road brings you back to Nieuweroord. All 87.8 km is paved, and the 45 m of climbing keeps it gentle.
