The ride

From Castel Campagnano you roll out and soon follow the Volturno river, then pass through the Oasi Bosco di San Silvestro nature reserve before the road climbs into the Parco Nazionale del Matese nature reserve. On the way back the Castello Ducale castle marks the final stretch into the village. The 79.2 km route is fully paved, with 1002 m of climbing to keep the legs honest.
