The ride

From the parking area at the Macchia Foresta del Fiume Irminio nature reserve, this 88.6 km loop rolls out past the Randello nature reserve before turning inland. Two castles follow in sequence, Donnafugata and the Castello dei Conti, and the route slips by the Palazzo dei Mercedari manor on its way around. The surface is 97% paved, with a short unpaved stretch, and 1147 m of climbing keeps the legs honest. Then it's back to where you started.
