Roll out of Miltach and the castle is barely behind you before the Bayerischer Wald nature reserve takes over. The route climbs to the Großer Pfahl, swings past the castle at Kollnburg, then threads the Schloßberg von Sattelpeilnstein and the Regentalaue floodplain.
