The ride
From Castello del Matese you roll out and up into the Parco Nazionale del Matese, a nature reserve that sets the tone for the day. The route then brings you past Lago del Matese, a lake that breaks up the climbing nicely. All 74.4 km are paved, with 1498 m of elevation gain to keep the legs honest. Then it's back to where you started, in Castello del Matese.
