Roll out of Saint-Jean-d'Angély and follow the Boutonne river before a stop at the Lanterne des morts viewpoint. The route then meets the Charente and threads past the castles of Bernere and Villeneuve la Comtesse. A branch of the Boutonne and the castle at Dampierre-sur-Boutonne round things off before you pedal back to the start. It's 88.4 km on paved surface the whole way, with 555 m of climbing along the ride.
